Joanna is a design researcher and human-centered designer, with 15 years of experience in the public sector as a digital lead and strategist for museums. Prior to working for design firms for the last 6 years, she was the first Chief of Web and New Media Initiatives at the National Gallery of Art. A position created to expand digital engagement and programs and lead its first enterprise level website redesign. She worked with curatorial, archival and digital teams at the Smithsonian Institution for 10 years. While there, she led major website redesigns and digital initiatives, working cross museums and agencies to find new ways to leverage design and technology to inclusively engage existing visitors and attract new ones. She has been working on websites, digital media and video programs for over 20 years.

Her work and produced projects have garnered a Peabody, 2 Webby Awards, Webby Honors, Web Marketing Awards, Muse Awards, and been featured in STEP Magazine’s Top 100, US News and World Report, USA Today and the Washington Post.
