We are looking for a Design Strategist

Doblin Seattle is looking for great designers who want to build the products, services and customer experiences of the future.

Design strategists at Doblin bring their curiosity, empathy, and interpretive skills to bear on all aspects of our work. They are responsible for creating compelling narratives to communicate discoveries, shaping experiences that engage client organizations, designing and prototyping new propositions that solve for real customer challenges, and teaching our clients the discipline of design to tackle complex business challenges.

We are looking for people who are skilled in one or more design discipline (communication, product, service, interaction and brand) but who want inspire a dialogue about advancing the discipline of design as a whole. We are interested in hearing from people who love working in multidisciplinary teams, who want to drive both the creative and strategic aspects of design, and who to push teams and clients to build bold new propositions through a design-led process.

What you'll do

  • Collaborating with teams of business designers and design researchers to identify innovation opportunities and develop propositions that create value for people and client organizations
  • Communicating research discoveries through compelling narratives and visualizations
  • Defining and developing prototypes of new offerings and experiences to test and refine concepts in-market
  • Collaborating with other designers to create and deliver immersive working sessions that engage and empower leaders to act
  • Facilitating conversations with client teams to identify and develop new opportunities for their organizations
  • Representing the design discipline and its value to non-designers, both internally and at client organizations

The team

Our Customer Strategy & Applied Design team focuses on helping clients discover, design, and prototype customer growth strategies and innovation portfolios to create and drive change in a digital world. We bring knowledge and offerings to uncover the behaviors, motivations and preferences of our clients’ customers and develop new experiences for them. Our team of professionals has deep capabilities in strategy, customer experience, digital strategy and innovation.

We deliver set of customer focused work

  • Customer Strategy - Help clients build capabilities to better understand customer value drivers and make choices about the markets and segments they serve through digital, social, and mobile channels; optimize pricing decisions and shape the most strategic issues on the CMO agenda
  • Customer Experience - Help clients improve the quality, nature and power of interactions between the customer and the organization across the lifecycle of sales, marketing and service at each and every touch point.
  • Applied Innovation - Help clients rapidly design, prototype and launch new businesses and experiences, translating insights on human behavior from design-led methods into offerings and technologies that delight customers and drive growth
  • Digital Strategy - Help clients understand, envision and articulate “digital” as a business strategy aligned with their CEO’s agenda – and then craft a plan to embed everything they do with the latest technology solutions and business models to compete in the marketplace for customers and talent


  • Excellent design qualifications plus at least 2+ years of consulting or industry experience in Innovation, Design Strategy, Service Design, UI/UX or other relevant industry.
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated experience acting in a client-facing role
  • Demonstrated experience leading direct reports and/or discrete workstreams
  • Technical proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects or equivalent
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

A portfolio of previous work that demonstrates proficiency in design across different mediums, strong story-telling skills, and the ability to communicate compelling user experiences

  • Mastery of the design process; in particular for solving innovation challenges
  • A passion for learning about the world, human behavior, and the motivations that lie beneath the surface
  • The ability to synthesize research into concrete recommendations and communicate them to business audiences
  • A passion for conceiving, developing and prototyping solutions that delight consumers and create value for clients
  • The ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions, both individually and in a team
  • A highly collaborative nature and a desire to work with those from other disciplines
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • A passion and knowledge of the design and innovation process
