We help organisations focus their innovation efforts in the right places; design, build & launch new value propositions; and become faster & more effective innovators.

Your role

Our growing London practice offers the opportunity to work alongside a talented team of designers, researchers and venture strategists on some of the world’s biggest and most complex challenges.

As a Design Strategist you will:

  • Teach our clients the discipline of design to tackle complex business challenges
  • Love working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Want to drive both the creative and strategic aspects of design
  • Push teams and clients to build bold new ideas through a design-led process

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proposition & experience design

    • Defining and developing prototypes of new offerings and experiences to test and refine concepts in-market
  • Discovery
    • Detecting unmet and emerging customer needs, behaviours and expectations
    • Deploying research methods including both top-down techniques like demographic and large-scale surveys, and deep qualitative methods like ethnography, customer panels, and behavioural approaches
    • Communicating research discoveries through compelling narratives and visualisations
  • Consulting
    • Collaborating with other designers to create and deliver immersive working sessions that engage and empower leaders to act
    • Facilitating conversations with client teams to identify and develop new opportunities for their organisations
    • Advocating the design discipline and its value to non-designers, both internally and at client organisations

Your work, your choice

At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.

This is a permanent contract opportunity. The role can be worked on a full-time basis. Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Tell us what arrangement works for you and we’ll try to accommodate.

The role is located in London with occasional travel.

Your professional experience

We are looking for people with hybrid experience spanning multiple areas of design, with particular strength in one or two of these areas - visual, communications, service, product, etc. We welcome designers who are currently working in industry roles looking to transition into consulting.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate these characteristics:

  • A portfolio that demonstrates proficiency in design across different mediums, strong story-telling skills, and the ability to communicate compelling user experiences
  • Strong understanding of the design process, and the desire to solve ambiguous design and innovation challenges
  • Ability to connect strategic goals to solution design and creative execution
  • A passion for learning about the world, human behaviour, and the motivations that lie beneath the surface
  • The ability to synthesise research into concrete recommendations and communicate them to business audiences
  • A passion for conceiving, developing and prototyping solutions that delight consumers and create value for clients
  • The ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions, both individually and in a team
  • A highly collaborative nature and a desire to work with those from other disciplines
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • A strong understanding of design and visual communication principles, bonus points if you have experience with design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Invision and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Adept at using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent design qualifications plus 2 years consulting experience in Innovation, Design Strategy, Service Design or 3-4 years design experience in industry.

To apply please share your portfolio and answer this question in your cover letter (c. 200 words)
