Project X is a new agency offering from Deloitte Digital and Doblin. Still in stealth mode, Project X is looking for ambitious, purpose-driven leaders to form the core team of an exciting new venture that promises to disrupt both the advertising and consulting industries through innovative new approaches and big, bold, creative swings.

Doblin, a Deloitte business, is seeking equity innovation leaders to join our New York and Chicago studios. We are looking for exceptional individuals who can confidently shape the future of equity-centered innovation, both as a discipline and as programs delivered with clients across industries to drive the growth of our business. We’re looking for leaders who possess clear visions for the future of equity and design.

The Innovation and Impact department at Project X is unique, comprised of distinct disciplines of design. The Director of Inclusive Innovation will act as the core driver to leading empathetic and authentic discovery work into communities and people. We are looking for someone who can advocate for diverse perspectives and can uncover insights that go deeper than a single user; someone who can fuse Human Centered Design with equity and articulate insights at the systemic, equity, and community level to inform a range of innovative projects.

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious designers and researchers to lead, shape and evolve the Innovation and Impact Department as the Director of Inclusive Innovation In this role, you will lead a small department of designers and researchers on purpose lead innovation and transformation projects. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of equity and inclusive design methodologies as well as an understanding of far reaching impact.

Project X is headquartered out of Chicago and New York. Travel is required for 30-50% of the time (While up to 50% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

Work You’ll Do

· Execute and oversee inclusive design methodologies, from research, to co-discovery and participatory design and will be experienced in applying these to the development of innovative technology, business, and purpose driven projects

· Lead a team of creative problem-solving experts through Systems thinking, equity-centered design, and visualization to drive inclusive led work.

· Partner and galvanize a community of passionate Inclusive Design experts and leaders across Deloitte. Define and drive the future of inclusive design at Deloitte. You will possess a clear vision of the future of inclusive design and have the courage to purpose forward thinking product development practices that support business goals.

· Bring an inclusive lens to experience design by creating an understanding and empathy around the diversity of user needs. You are intentional about centering underrepresented voices throughout the development process.

· Conduct primary research and explore the behaviors and motivations of our users through methods like field visits, ethnography, surveys, and journey mapping.

· Synthesize and incorporate existing literature on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), as well as interview scholars and experts to inform research, design, and purpose development efforts.

  • Develop eminence around equity-centered innovation and its intersections with other industry, technology, and social trends
  • Uncover and frame new opportunities, then oversee proposals and pitches that lead to compelling opportunities for our teams and groundbreaking impact for our clients

What You’ll Need

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in equity, innovation, digital, or design roles
  • Master’s degree is highly preferred
  • Expert knowledge of equity and community design principles and methodologies
  • Experience collaborating deeply across disciplines - product management, technology, research, user experience
  • Proven track record of advocating for Human Centered Design or Social innovation work
  • Experience with senior clients. Someone who is an expert at handling themselves and our clients in every imaginable situation.
  • someone who is insanely excited about their work and knows how to spread that enthusiasm.
  • Strong design instincts and readiness to promote deep understandings of human centered design, human ethnography, and innovation processes.
  • Leadership skills and can organize, motivate, and improve the innovation work of those around you
  • A keen ability to anticipate the needs, concerns and input from teammates across departments.
  • Confident with everything from team building, mentoring to guiding large amounts of creative talent, and growing the team.
  • Experience collaborating deeply across disciplines - product management, technology, research, user experience
